Today is my birthday - That's right, I'm finally turning 18. The day I've been counting down to for a rough six months is finally here and it's now that I'm supposed to be acting like a grown up. Sigh.Weirdly I don't feel any different today than I did yesterday (the butterflies are gone now though), but I must have learned something the past year, you would think. And yes, I certainly have:
1) You doesn't have to look like everybody else. I've been wanting to dye my hair in any pastel colour since I was fourteen, and been telling myself almost everyday for a year that tomorrow would be the day, that it turned from the light blonde colour I had finally achieved to pink, before I finally did it in the end of last summer. I haven't regretted anything at all and learned that it's okay to stand out from the crowd (which you most likely will if your hair is bright pink like mine)
2) Festivals are definitely something for me and I will be attending the same festival as I did last year with my boyfriend, whom I met at that festival!
3) It's okay to not always do what people expect of you. I've first learned this recently, and it has made me more free in my way of thinking and doesn't make me worry about how I need to succeed in life for people to be proud of me
4) I love blogging and I don't want to stop doing it. When you tell people that you are a blogger, most will look at you with that face expression you know just a little to well. Therefore I had a longer pause from blogging, but I always come back to it - and this time I will stay
5) I moved out a couple of months ago, and fastly learned that living without your parentes can be pretty hard. Especially when you aren't the best cook and your dad probably is (he makes a killer ice cream!), but I have now learned the art of surviving on toast alone. A very valuable life lesson really
Beautiful photo!!!!

Thank you very much! Wauw, moving from one continent to the other sounds like a really big change - Hope it went well!
DeleteHappy 18th birthday, Sara! You are so wise for your age!! I loved to hear that you can't always do what is expected of you! I agree that one needs to be assertive and do what he/she wants to do to be happy and to not have to be a full-time people pleaser!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on moving out and being truly self supporting…the sacrifice is so worth it to have your independence! xo

Man lærer jo hele livet. Også helt mærkeligt for mig at kigge flere år tilbage på hvor man var dengang og sammenligne med hvor jeg er nu
DeleteHappy Birthday! The 18th is always a big day so I hope you're having a great party!
ReplyDeleteI love your hair btw! I used to have mine pink, purple and blue in the past but currently I'm back to normal hahaha ..Anyways, I love your resolutions & have a nice day! <3

Girl, yeeeeees. This is everything! Happy birthday and congratulations on all your insight <3 I just did a photo series for class on how self identity can be a way of taking care of yourself. The concept kind of divulged when another fell apart but all my subjects had "wild" hair and a unique sense of style. It's almost like a community in itself and a way of having control over who you are and what you want in life. Good for you for grabbing at it! Also, definitely number 4. That was my struggle, too. Insanely.
ReplyDeleteYou got this, don't let anything hold you back (:

Thank you very much! I think a lot of bloggers struggle with number 4, even though we don't know it - but you have to do what you want to do and not what others think you should do!
DeleteI love your hair :) Nice blogpost btw
